LAOAG CITY -- The Ilocos Norte Tourism Office has advised all tourists to avoid traveling to the province’s major tourism destinations due to the inclement weather whipped up by Tropical Depression Jenny.

“For the public’s safety, tourist spots like Kapurpurawan, Cape Bojeador Lighthouse, Saud Beach Park, sand dunes, and other government-owned facilities will be closed until further notice. We encourage the postponement of travel plans including those coming to the province until the weather clears,” said Ian Raquel, Supervising Tourism Operations officer in a local travel advisory issued on Tuesday.

As of this posting, the weather is slightly improving in the province but going to the beach and other high risk areas for swimming, hiking, trekking and fishing are not recommended.

Meanwhile, classes in all levels remain suspended today (August 28) for the safety of children. For advisories and emergency response, please contact the Provincial Resiliency Office at 0917-109-9911 or 0999-999-7707 or 911. (PNA)
