ILOILO CITY – The JobStart Philippines’ Life Skills Training has produced 98 graduates through the implementation of the Iloilo Public Employment Service Office (PESO).

A total of 98 JobStarters completed the 10-day Life Skills Training and were recognized in a program here on Friday, PESO-Iloilo head Francisco Heler said.

Heler said JobStart’s training program is a full-cycle employment facilitation service providing free employability enhancement and skills training with allowance to qualified applicants.

The graduates are set to undergo up to three months of technical skills training, and a maximum of three months of Internship with PESO-partner industries.

Heler said the technical skills training that the graduates will go through will depend on the company, which would employ them.

“The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) can also provide them with training depending on the training regulation of the company they will apply to,” he said.

The JobStart program, funded by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Asian Development Bank, aims to address issues on unemployment and job mismatch.

Heler said it is helpful to the Ilonggos especially to young jobseekers having a difficult time finding employment after graduating.

“In the program, we emphasize to them that attitude and character are very important. They knew themselves, and they were taught building relationships with people because they will be working with people and this is a way of preparing them for places of work,” Heler said.

Meanwhile, Nilme Jean Magno, a JobStarter who completed the training, thanked the program of the government.

In an interview, she said the training program has given her confidence, knowledge, and important skills.

“This training taught me to be a more value-laden individual. As I am equipped with skills, knowledge, and values, which are essential tools in the virtual world of work. I am ready to explore new milieu and opportunities,” Magno said. (PNA)
