CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga –- The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in Central Luzon started on Monday the implementation of its rebate program.

OWWA regional welfare office officer-in-charge Esperanza Cobarrubias said that some of the “long time OWWA members” in Central Luzon visited the office and checked their qualifications.

“They were initially assisted in the online registration at the OWWA’s official website which will identify their eligibility on the program,” Cobarrubias said.

Qualified members are those who are at least with OWWA for 10 years, with five or more contributions until December 2017 and those who have not availed of any program or benefit from OWWA.

Rebates can range from PHP941.25 to PHP13,177.50, depending on the number of their contributions.

Cobarrubias also said that eligible OFW applicants are given three modes of availment choices.

“They can donate to Tuloy Aral Program (TAP), renew their membership, or cash availment which can be claimed through bank partners or remittance provider/center,” she said.

The OWWA rebate program which was officially implemented nationwide last Sept. 1, is in compliance with the provisions of Republic Act 10801, otherwise known as “An Act Governing the Operations and Administration of the OWWA”.

Cobarrubias said the program is not a refund or cash back scheme but a form of financial assistance to OFWs who have been paying their OWWA contributions regularly. (PNA)
