MANILA – A total of 31 Korean beauty brands offered cheaper than those sold in department stores are now available in Duty Free Philippines (DFP) outlets, the state-owned corporation announced Friday.

“To date, we have about 31 K-Beauty brands, two of which are DFP exclusives,” chief operating officer Vicente Pelagio Angala said as he bared DFP efforts to target the growing market of K-beauty fans in the Philippines.

“While some of these 31 brands are available in the Philippine market, we provide the cheaper price from 10 to 20 percent lower compared to the local market,” he said.

Angala said the entry of South Korean cosmetics at Duty Free Philippines outlets is to keep up with the Korean skincare and makeup trend in the country mainly attributed to the immense interest of Filipinos in K-pop.

Among these brands are Club Clio, Missha, Laneige, Leaders, A.by Bom, Wellderma, Bano, Koco Star, It's Skin, Holika, Too Cool For School, Pony Effect, Berrisom, Velyvely, G9, Skin Papa Recipe, Jayjun, SNP, April Skin, Benton, Cloud9, Cosrx, DLA, Guerisson, Medi Heal, Normal Nomore, Purederm, and Victoria Korea.

Aside from these popular K-beauty names, exclusive brands such as Dr. Jart and Sulwhasoo are also available at the DFP.

Most recently, the DFP opened the K-Beauty Studio and Global Trends area in its flagship store, the Fiestamall in Parañaque City and the Sulwhasoo boutique at Luxe Duty Free inside Mall of Asia Complex to specifically highlight Korean brands.

K-Beauty, which refers to skin-care products that derive from its South Korean origin, puts emphasis on natural ingredients, nourishing formulas, and whimsical packaging.

“DFP always prides itself in thriving to adapt to new trends and specific customer needs,” Angala said. (PNA)
