DAVAO CITY -- A top official from the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) reminded Dabawenyos anew to be vigilant following the bombing in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat on Saturday.

Col. Alexander Tagum, DCPO director, told the Philippine News Agency on Sunday that Dabawenyos should report any suspicious person or object for them to immediately respond and initiate counter-measures against any threat from terrorist groups.

The statement came after the roadside bombing in front of a public market in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat which injured eight people.

An anti-personnel mine was placed in front of a row of “habal-habal” or motorcycles for hire and went off around 7 a.m. Saturday.

Video of the bombing from a CCTV (closed circuit television) security camera circulated on social media garnering various reactions from the netizens expressing concern on a possible security threat in their respective places.

“We are currently implementing maximum security operations 24/7 and maintain our level 3 Alert level,” he said.

Tagum assured that they have enough number of security forces on the ground with other support from Philippine National Police (PNP) and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) troops as well as other local intelligence and law enforcement agencies.

“Since my assumption as director of DCPO in 2017, the cornerstone of my effective security measures for City of Davao is Enhanced Police-Military Integrated Patrol System in three layers, the outer, inner and covert security deployments with the support of an empowered and vigilant community,” he stressed.
