Indian company bags light armor upgrade project

MANILA – The Department of National Defense (DND) has awarded the contract for the upgrade of light armor units of the Philippine Navy and Philippine Air Force to Indian defense firm Larsen & Toubro Limited.

"This is to inform you that the proposal of Larsen & Toubro Limited for the Light Armor System Upgrade (LARSU) Acquisition Project of the Philippine Navy and Philippine Air Force, with a corresponding contract price in the amount of seven hundred eleven million five hundred forty-two thousand eight hundred eighty nine pesos (PHP711,542,889) is hereby accepted," DND Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said in the Notice of Award posted on the agency’s website.

The company is based at Mumbai, India.

The upgrades include updates in the engine and fire control systems.

The Indian company was selected as the winning proponent for bidding lower than the PHP711,938,000 approved budget for the contract. (PNA)
