MANILA -- The Philippine Azkals recovered from a bad beating by Syria in Bacolod by pummeling Guam, 4-1, in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers at the Guam FA Training Center on Tuesday.

The Azkals controlled the pace early on, leading to goals from veterans Angel Guirado (sixth minute) and Patrick Reichelt (12th) as they quickly took a 2-0 lead.

Marcus Lopez finally broke the ice for Guam with a 67th minute penalty, but Stephan Schrock scored a rocket in the 71st minute to make it 3-1 for the Azkals.

Patrick Strauss then capped the Azkals' win with his first international goal in the 81st minute. (PNA)
