MANILA -- Damages to agriculture, particularly to rice due to Tropical Depression "Marilyn", now a low-pressure area, were placed at PHP12.12 million.

According to the Department of Agriculture Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DA-DRRM) Operation Center, around 704 metric tons (MT) planted to 282 hectares of farm lands were lost in the provinces of Tarlac, Zambales, and Pampanga.

The DA-Regional Field Offices are still conducting field monitoring and validation for possible additional damages and losses caused by the tropical depression, it said.

Buffer stock seeds are ready for distribution to affected farmers once validation has been finalized, it added. (PNA)
