ZAMBOANGA CITY – Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), backed by policemen and soldiers, arrested five people as they dismantled a drug den in Basilan province on Tuesday.
Lawyer Jacqueline de Guzman, PDEA 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) director, identified the arrested suspects as Abdulhaber Arok Lakkian, 51; Absemar Aldam
Paradje, 33; Abdul Astian Basar, 36; Omar Mustafa Hasim, 44; and Nurhusin Hasim Wahab, 55.
De Guzman said the suspects were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Purok 5, Sitio Tupay, Barangay Tabuk, Isabela City, the capital of Basilan province, at about 11:15 a.m.
De Guzman said they were arrested in an abandoned house being used as a drug den.
Seized from the suspects were some 17 grams of suspected shabu packed in 17 heat-sealed plastic sachets and estimated to be worth PHP115,600, she said.
She said the suspects will be charged for violation of Sections 5, 6, 7, 11 and 12 of Article 2 of Republic Act 9164, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
