Ginebra begins PBA Governors' Cup stint with rout of Alaska

MANILA -- Barangay Ginebra went on a roll to start its stint in the PBA Governors' Cup, zapping the Alaska Aces, 102-83, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on Sunday night.

The Barangay outscored the Aces, 29-13, in the first quarter and never looked back from there.

Justin Brownlee put up 30 points, 22 rebounds, four assists, and three steals for Ginebra, which is hoping to reclaim the championship in the season-ending conference that it lost last year.

Greg Slaughter added 16 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks.

Justin Watts came up with 22 points, 12 rebounds, one assist, two steals, and one block for Alaska, which fell to 0-2 in the tournament.

In the curtain-raiser, Rain Or Shine ElastoPainters pipped Columbian Dyip, 96-90, behind a 30-point output from Joel Wright. (PNA)
