LINGAYEN, Pangasinan -- The provincial government of Pangasinan will provide PHP500,000 financial assistance to the victims of severe tropical storm (TS) Ineng in the province of Ilocos Norte.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan on Monday unanimously approved a resolution, authored by board member Angel Baniqued Jr., authorizing the grant of such assistance.

“Ilocos Norte declared state of calamity on August 24 as they suffered massive flooding, causing billions of damages to agriculture and infrastructure and loss of two lives,” Baniqued said in his speech during their regular session.

He said the League of Provinces of the Philippines sought financial aid for Ilocos Norte to support its relief operations and recovery, including rehabilitation.

“The provincial government would like to extend help to the affected residents in the province,” he added. (PNA)
