MANILA -- Rising entrepreneur Dennis Uy bagged the highly-coveted Asean Entrepreneurial Excellence Award from the world’s most prestigious business awards program for entrepreneurs, Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Singapore.

As the chairman and president of UDENNA Corporation, which includes Phoenix Petroleum, Chelsea Shipping and Logistics, Enderun Colleges, and UDENNA Land, among others, Uy founded and led these companies into an aggressive and impressive growth in just a few years, and contributed to community development through numerous corporate social responsibility programs.

“He has brought impact to the society and helped build a better working world from job creation through UDENNA Corporation’s expanded portfolio, to charity-driven ventures through the UDENNA Foundation and Phoenix Philippines Foundation,” said Singapore Managing Partner, Ernst & Young LLP Max Loh.

Winners of the Asean Entrepreneurial Excellence Award are selected according to their entrepreneurial spirit, strategic direction, community impact, and personal integrity.

Uy’s outstanding entrepreneurial story as a disruptor and industry game-changer in the Philippines and the Asean region earned him the coveted title.

“I am thankful for this award as this validates, not just my hard work, but also of all the people working with me in the UDENNA group all these years. Our goal is simple—to touch the lives of every Filipino in different ways. Each of our brands strives to be of service to the Philippines, and we will continue to do so for years to come, especially now that we have the affirmation of this great honor,” Uy said.

Established by Ernst & Young Global Limited in 2002, EY Entrepreneur of the Year is a recognition presented to successful businessmen that have helped develop economies and communities in the Southeast Asia region. (PR)
