ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The Department of Trade and Industry's (DTI) Negosyo Centers are making headway as far as providing assistance to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME’s) in Region 9, an official said.

Dr. Sitti Amina Jain, DTI-9 director, said Monday that Negosyo Centers around the region have already provided assistance to more than 22,000 MSMEs within the year.

Jain said DTI has so far conducted over 1,000 trainings, which benefited more than 36,000 participants, many of whom are aspiring entrepreneurs.

Jain said that they were also able to process, through the Negosyo Centers, the registration of 10,687 business names, which is a requirement in applying for a business permit.

Currently, there are 54 Negosyo Centers all over the region, with DTI-9 eyeing to establish 72 centers more by the end of 2020.

Jain said the centers can cater to business seminars, counseling for entrepreneurs and would-be entrepreneurs, and those who are interested to start a business. (PNA)
