ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is holding a four-day Zamboanga Peninsula Exposition (ZAMPEX) to showcase the products of the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the region.

Dr. Sitti Amina Jain, DTI regional director, said the ZAMPEX will be held at the Palacio del Sur Convention Center of the Marcian Garden Hotel.

Jain said 100 exhibitors from across the region will attend the ZAMPEX, the second to be held this year. The first ZAMPEX was from August 1 to 5 at the SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.

Jain said the ZAMPEX is the biggest marketing platform for MSMEs in the Zamboanga Peninsula, which the DTI regional office instituted in 2014.

She said the activity aims to promote locally made products of MSMEs, boost visibility and raise the awareness and interest of the public their products, and establish linkages between producers and buyers and establish partnerships among distributors and suppliers through business matching.

She said the holding of the ZAMPEX every October is the contribution of DTI to the celebration of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival.

The highlight of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival, which officially opened October 1, is the feast day of Our Lady of the Pillar, the most revered saint of this city, on October 12. (PNA)
