COTABATO CITY – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Unit in Region 12 (PDEA-12) has declared on Wednesday the city of Kidapawan in North Cotabato as “drug cleared”.
In a statement, Naravy Duquiatan, PDEA-12 chief, said the city has been given its upbeat standing due to the local government unit’s unwavering support to the campaign against illegal drugs by President Rodrigo Duterte.
The PDEA-12’s certification, through the approval of the Dangerous Drugs Board, came after the validation of Barangays Poblacion and Sudapin, the remaining of the city’s 40 villages, as drug cleared.
Among the basis to declare villages as drug cleared are the neutralization of drug pushers and drug pushing activities in the communities; and the destruction of drug dens and illegal drug laboratories, if any, through the active participation and monitoring of the Barangay Drug Abuse Council.
Mayor Joseph Evangelista lauded the city's latest achievement and expressed gratitude to village officials and the communities for the continuing fight against illegal drugs.
“We should sustain this in the years to come,” he urged the village officials.
Evangelista said he would work harder to keep the city cleared from illegal drugs. (PNA)
