CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- The chief of the Police Regional Office 10 (Northern Mindanao) has warned delinquent employers in the region to strictly comply with the Social Security Law by paying the contributions and salary loan payments of their employees to the Social Security System (SSS).

Police Brig. Gen. Rafael P. Santiago Jr. issued the warning after the arrest of a businessman here for alleged failure to remit the SSS contributions of his employees.

Santiago identified the businessman as Bienvenido Macaraeg Jr., a proprietor of Sunny Farm, who was arrested at a mall here Wednesday afternoon.

Macaraeg has a standing warrant of arrest for violations of the Social Security Law. His arrest was led by Police Capt. Rustico Galagala of the Regional Intelligence Division; and Carlos Flaviano, SSS intelligence officer tasked to run after employers who fail to pay the SSS contributions of their employees.

According to Flaviano, Macaraeg was just one of the delinquent employers included in the general list of employers with unserved warrants of arrest under the Employer Delinquency Monitoring Department of the SSS.

Santiago vowed to assist the SSS in implementing the warrants of arrest. He said two more delinquent employers would be arrested soon. (PNA)
