PDEA, police dismantle drug den in Sibugay town

ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), backed by policemen, dismantled a drug den and arrested five persons in an anti-drug operation in Zamboanga Sibugay, a top PDEA official said Saturday.


Lawyer Jacqueline de Guzman, PDEA-9 director, identified the arrested suspects as Abduraham Alam, drug den maintainer; Ronal Lumayag, drug den co-maintainer; Arnel Tomarong; and, two minors, who identities were withheld.


De Guzman said the suspects were arrested in a buy-bust around 11 p.m. Thursday in Purok Malipayon, Barangay Buluan, Ipil, the capital town of Zamboanga Sibugay.


De Guzman said the anti-drug operation was launched following surveillance on the activities of the suspects.


She said seized from the suspects were 20 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP136,000, illegal drug paraphernalia, PHP500 marked money, and PHP2,100 cash of various denominations believed to be proceeds of the sale of illegal drugs.


She said various drug-related charges will be filed against the suspects. (PNA)
