COTABATO CITY -- A fire gutted more than 30 stalls at the temporary site of the public market in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao shortly before midnight Tuesday.

Engulfed by the fire were fish and vegetable stalls and small eateries, mostly made of light materials in the area. No one was reported hurt in the incident.

"The fire came after an explosion,” Fire Insp. Ysrael Kamid, town fire department chief, said of the incident that happened around 11:28 p.m. at Barangay Dalican.

He said the site of the blaze is about 400 meters away from the town police department, enabling them to quickly respond to the incident.
