ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) has named the Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) as one of the top-performing regions in the campaign against illegal drugs.

Brig. Gen. Froilan Quidilla, PRO-9 director, said Thursday that the PNP listed PRO-9 as one of the Top 10 with highest accomplishments in the illegal drugs campaign from December 5, 2017 to October 15, 2019, or for one year and 10 months.

Quidilla said that during the period, they have conducted 2,850 anti-illegal drug operations and arrested 3,784 illegal drug personalities within the area of responsibility of PRO-9.

A total of 528 drug personalities have surrendered in the same period, he said, adding the numbers are proof that the PRO-9 is serious in removing the illegal drugs in the Zamboanga Peninsula.

“The PRO-9 has been relentless in curbing the menace of the society,” he added.

He assured the public that the strict implementation of the law will be enforced and “zero tolerance for those who insist to break them.”

He urged the public to remain cooperative in solving crimes in their community through the “Isumbong Mo, I-ACTION Ko” program of PRO-9, where residents can report peace and order-related matters to the hotline numbers 0977-3102365 and 0961-2977064.

The PRO-9 covers the provinces of Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga del Sur and the cities of Zamboanga and Isabela. (PNA)
