The highest number of dengue cases this year was recorded in August with 2,052, but it went down to 1,863 in September, de Guzman said.

“The youngest dengue victim was a 10-month-old male and the oldest was a 90-year-old female,” she added.

Meanwhile, leptospirosis cases in the province declined by 67 percent this year with 153 cases from January to October 14, compared to 253 cases in the same period last year.

“The mortality this year due to leptospirosis is at 22, which is lower compared to last year’s 59 deaths,” de Guzman said.
