MANILA -- Rains will pour over parts of northern Luzon due to tropical storm 'Perla' (international name Neoguri).

In its 5 a.m severe weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said 'Perla' was last spotted 790 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

'Perla', which is almost stationary, may bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over Batanes, Cagayan, including Babuyan Group of Islands and Apayao beginning Saturday or Sunday.

However, northeasterly surface windflow prevails over Luzon.

Sea travel is risky especially for small vessels due to rough sea conditions associated with the northeasterly surface windflow.

Batanes and Cagayan will be cloudy with light rains caused by northeasterly surface windflow while Zamboanga Peninsula, Western Visayas and Palawan will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ).

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.

Temperature in Metro Manila ranges from 24-32 degrees Celsius; Tuguegarao City 22-33 degrees Celsius; Baguio City 15-25 degrees Celsius; SBMA 24-33 degrees Celsius; Lipa City 26-33 degrees Celsius; Metro Cebu 24-32 degrees Celsius; and Metro Davao 26-33 degrees Celsius. (PNA)
