11 NPA rebels surrender in Masbate

LEGAZPI CITY --- At least 11 suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered on Thursday afternoon to the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Masbate.

Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Police Regional Office-5 spokesperson, in an interview said three of the surrendered rebels were regulars while the rest were mass-based members of the Larangan Guerilla North Masbate of NPA Jose Rapsing command operating in the said province.

The rebel surrenderers were all residents of Barangay Igang in Masbate City.

The surrender ceremony was held at around 1:30 p.m. at the Masbate 1st Provincial Mobile Force Command Headquarters at Camp Bonny Serrano in Masbate City.

The former rebels surrendered two .357-caliber revolvers and a .38-caliber pistol. (PNA)
