KORONADAL CITY -- Police have launched a manhunt against armed men behind the separate shooting incidents in Polomolok town, South Cotabato, Wednesday that left a person dead and another wounded.

Lt. Col. Marvin Duadua, chief of the Polomolok municipal police station, said in a report on Thursday a still unidentified male victim was gunned down near Barangay Rubber Wednesday morning.

Another victim survived a similar attack later in the evening in Barangay Pagalungan.

Duadua said the first victim was riding a black Honda Wave motorcycle around 10 a.m. when he was shot by a motorcycle-riding suspect.

Duadua said the victim died on-the-spot due to gunshot wounds on the head and body while the suspect fled toward the vicinity of Barangay Rubber.

Recovered at the scene were two cartridges and a slug of a caliber .45 pistol.

Around 8:45 p.m., Duadua said another resident, Nelson Guiao, was stopped at gunpoint on the national highway in Barangay Pagalungan by two motorcycle-riding suspects, who then declared a holdup.

Guiao then shouted for help and was shot by one of the suspects in the abdomen, the police official said.

Duadua said the victim, who managed to get help from a nearby swimming resort, remains in critical condition at a local hospital. (PNA)
