COTABATO CITY – More than 200 inmates of the Maguindanao provincial jail here have benefitted from medical-dental services by the Maguindanao medical team on Wednesday.

Lawyer Bobby Katambak, provincial jail warden, said most of the ailments that affect inmates are more of respiratory and skin diseases.

Regular medical services for the 250 inmates are being done inside the jail facility located at PC Hill, Cotabato City.

Katambak lauded Maguindanao Governor Mariam Sangki-Mangudadatu for sending the medical team to the provincial jail.

He said the provincial jail has undergone a facelift to make the facility inmate-friendly.

“We make it sure that the surrounding is clean and that proper hygiene is observed by all inmates because this is one way of preventing diseases,” Katambak told a media interview here.

Other innovations include installing closed-circuit television cameras in all corners of the two-story jail facility and improving the food services to the inmates.

On top of these, he said the local government is coordinating with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) local chapter to help fast-track the resolution of inmates’ cases. (PNA)
