MANILA -- Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (MWSI) announced on Friday that it will conduct network maintenance in northern Quezon City next week as part of continuing efforts to improve water services in the West Zone.

In an advisory, the water concessionaire said a new 3.3-ft. diameter butterfly valve will be inserted into the existing 3.3-ft. diameter primary line at the corner of Quirino Highway and Bagong Buwan St. in Barangay Pasong Putik Proper, Novaliches, Quezon City.

As a result, barangays Greater Lagro, Kaligayahan, Pasong Putik, and San Agustin in Novaliches, as well as barangays 167 to 178 in the neighboring northern part of Caloocan City will experience water service interruption from 2 p.m. on Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The water firm advised its customers in the affected areas to store enough water for the duration of the service interruption.

It also said water tankers will be on standby and ready to deliver water to the affected areas as needed.

"Upon resumption of water service, customers should let the water flow out for a few seconds until the water clears," the advisory added.

Maynilad also clarified that the October 28 to 29 water service interruption in the four barangays in Novaliches, Quezon City and those in north Caloocan City is different from the rotational water service interruption scheduled beginning Thursday.

The north Caloocan City areas to be affected by the service improvement activity are barangays Llano, Deparo, BF Homes Caloocan, Amparo Novaville, Bagumbong, Urduja, Congress Village, Cielito Homes, Camarin, and Bagong Silang.

Maynilad said there may be a delay in the resumption of water service in some areas. This is due to some factors, such as the area's elevation, its distance from Maynilad's pumping stations, and the volume of withdrawal from the main lines.

The MWSI is the water and wastewater services provider for the 17 cities and municipalities that comprise the West Zone of the Metropolitan Manila area. It is an agent and contractor of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS). (PNA)
