SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The Antique Provincial Police Office (ANTPPO) is eyeing zero crime during the observance of All Saints' Day on November 1.

ANTPPO Deputy Director for Operation, Lt. Col. Norby Escobar, in an interview on Monday, said they will put up public assistance centers in cemeteries, with the expected huge influx of people, under their security plan.

“We will put up the public assistance centers just like we do every year in the cemeteries where there are numerous people visiting their dead loved ones,” he said.

In this capital town, public assistance centers will be established in two public cemeteries that are usually crowded during Undas.

Escobar said the assistance centers will be manned by the police and personnel of government offices ready to assist the public, including the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) and its municipal counterpart, and the Department of Public Works and Highways.

“Some police personnel will also be deployed to the other convergence areas like the public transport terminals to ensure that the commuters are safe,” he said.

Escobar said police checkpoints will be established aside from the deployment of mobile patrols.

“The ANTPPO has around 800 personnel including those in the 18 municipalities who will be placed on full alert status two days or a day before the All Saints' Day,” he said.

Since the police would be on full alert, Escobar said all personnel would be required to report for duty in order to maximize their presence in the cemeteries, bus terminals and other areas of convergence. (PNA)
