Magnitude 5 quake hits Cotabato anew

MANILA -- A magnitude 5 earthquake jolted Cotabato on Friday afternoon, with its epicenter recorded this time at the town of Makilala, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

The temblor struck 18 kilometers southeast of Makilala at 2:07 p.m. It had a depth of 2 kilometers.

PhIvolcs is not expecting damage to establishments in the area from the earthquake but said that aftershocks are possible.

Intensity 5 was felt in Magsaysay, Davao del Sur while Intensity 4 was recorded in Pikit, Cotabato and Bansalan, Davao del Sur.

Magnitude 6.6 and 6.5 earthquakes rocked Tulunan, Cotabato on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively. (PNA)
