MANILA -- Rains will pour over parts of Luzon as the low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) developed into a tropical depression Tuesday.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the tropical depression was spotted 610 kilometers southwest of Iba, Zambales.

PAGASA weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin said the almost stationary tropical depression is likely to enter PAR within the next 24 hours and will be given the local name ‘Quiel’.

The trough (extension) of the tropical depression will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Cavite and Batangas.

The regions of Ilocos, Cordillera and Cagayan Valley will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by frontal system.

Caraga and Davao regions will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ).

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Temperature in Manila ranges from 26-32 degrees Celsius; Baguio City 16-22 degrees Celsius; Tuguegarao City 24-32 degrees Celsius; SBMA 25-30 degrees Celsius; Lipa City 24-32 degrees Celsius; Metro Cebu 27-32 degrees Celsius; and Metro Davao 24-32 degrees Celsius. (PNA)
