LAOAG CITY -- In its bid to promote agri-entrepreneurship in the province, the provincial government of Ilocos Norte in partnership with various national government agencies, farmers and fishers’ groups and other agri-business companies, gathered at the Capitol grounds for a one-stop shop and sharing of best practices in the agriculture and fishery sectors.

During the opening of the Provincial Agriculture and Fishery Techno-Agribusiness and Product Innovations Link held at the Capitol auditorium on Monday, Governor Matthew Joseph Manotoc lauded the organizers of the event where agricultural research and product development are seen in the same platform along with end users.

“I am one with you in optimizing and further improving our agriculture sector which plays a vital role in our economy. I hope this creates a long- lasting effect and positive result,” Manotoc said as he led the opening of the trade exhibit participated by around 15 agri-entrepreneurs and partner government agencies.

The four-day trade fair and information and technology caravan features genuine Ilokano food products, handicrafts, portable agriculture equipment, bio fertilizers, health and wellness products, among others.

Partner government agencies such as the Mariano Marcos State University Extension Directorate, Department of Agriculture and other agriculture experts share their fields of interests.

There were also actual skills and machine demonstrations to interested participants.

Various technology reading materials written in English, Filipino and Ilokano and hybrid vegetable seeds are also made available to those who sign up in the log book for free.

“We are always grateful for the provincial government and other government partner agencies for their continuous support to us in improving our products,” said Agnes Asuncion, one of the outstanding women farmer-entrepreneurs in the province. (PNA)
