Former drug surrenderer shot dead in NegOr town

DUMAGUETE CITY – A man who had previously voluntarily surrendered to police authorities under the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) "Oplan TokHang" program was shot dead in Barangay Basak, Zamboanguita town in Negros Oriental.

A report from the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NOPPO) identified the victim as John Celso Ferrero, of legal age, jobless, and a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Zamboanguita.

A concerned citizen reported to the Zamboanguita police station that a shooting incident transpired in Barangay Basak around 3:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Responding police personnel found Ferrero lying on the road lifeless, bathed in his own blood and with several gunshot wounds on different parts of his body.

Initial investigation showed that unidentified suspects riding on a motorcycle shot the victim.

The motive for the attack has yet to be determined. (PNA)
