MANILA – Tropical storm (TS) Quiel will bring scattered rain showers over Metro Manila and other parts of the country, the weather bureau said Wednesday afternoon.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) also said Calabarzon, Central Luzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Pangasinan and Negros Oriental will also experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to Quiel.

Quiel was last spotted 455 kilometers west northwest of Coron, Palawan and “is almost stationary.”

It has a maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center, and gustiness of up to 90 kph.

The tail-end of a cold front affecting northern Luzon will cause the same weather condition over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of ilocos Region.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, strong winds will blow over northern Luzon, and the western part of central and southern Luzon. Coastal waters along these areas will be rough.

Moderate to strong winds will prevail over the rest of Luzon and the Visayas, where waters will be moderate to rough.

Over Mindanao, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (PNA)
