BINAN -- Kaya Iloilo and Stallion Laguna finished their group stage campaign in the Copa Paulino Alcantara with a 1-1 draw at the Binan Football Stadium on Wednesday.
However, the stalemate was enough for Kaya Iloilo to nail the top seed in Group B on a superior goal difference over Stallion Laguna, which finished their preliminary campaign tied at four points.
Jayson Panhay gave Kaya Iloilo the lead--and some sort of an insurance in sealing the number one spot--with a 59th minute goal.
Koichi Belgira tied the match for Stallion Laguna with a 73rd minute free kick as the home side finally forced its opponent to drop points this year.
Both clubs will await the result of the nightcaps, all Group A battles, to determine their respective semifinal opponents.
Ceres Negros is aiming to take the top seed in Group A against Green Archers United at the Aboitiz Pitch in Lipa City.
The U22 Azkals and Mendiola are disputing the last semifinal seat also at the Binan Football Stadium. (PNA)
