MANILA -- Philippine National Police (PNP) Officer-in-Charge, Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa has hailed the Police Regional Office 7 (PRO-7) for its swift action that resulted in the arrest of two suspects in connection with the killing of radio broadcaster Dindo Generoso, a police official said Friday.

“The OIC-PNP was elated with the positive development on the case of the late Mr. Generoso with the arrest of two suspects,” PRO-7 chief, Brig. Gen. Valeriano de Leon said in a statement.

De Leon identified the arrested suspects as Teddy Reyes Salaw, 44, of Batinguel, Dumaguete City, and Glenn Corsame, retired policeman, of San Jose Village in Barangay Banilad, Dumaguete City.

He said right after the incident, he ordered Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NOPPO) chief, Col. Julian Entoma to investigate the case.

“Our pursuing team confiscated from the suspect a .45 caliber pistol Norinco with eight rounds of live ammos,” de Leon said.

Meanwhile, Entoma said the two suspects were arrested on Thursday after they were tracked by police officers based on CCTV footages and other details.

De Leon said the investigation is “almost complete” with the arrest of Salaw and Corsame.

“We will keep you posted on more developments because as of now, the case is not yet solved,” he said.

"But rest assured, especially the family and relatives of the victim, your police will help you bring all the suspects involved in this dastardly act to justice. My strict order to our men on the ground is to leave no stone unturned and make it quick,” de Leon said.

Generoso, 67, was shot dead at around 7:25 a.m. Thursday while driving his Hyundai Elantra (YKU 946) in Barangay Piapi on his way to his program at the local radio station 96.7 dyEm FM Station.

Earlier, de Leon said the possible motives in the killing could be related to his job as a broadcaster, politics and family land dispute.

In 2016, he filed his Certificate of Candidacy for the mayoralty race but was declared a nuisance candidate. (PNA)
