MANILA -- Typhoon Quiel has left the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) but the tail-end of a cold front will bring rains and thunderstorms to some parts of the country on Saturday.

In an early morning weather forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said “Quiel” was estimated to be at 560 km. west of Coron, Palawan and was moving slowly west as of 3 a.m.

The typhoon has maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near its center and gustiness of up to 150 kph but has no direct effect on the country’s weather.

Meanwhile, the tail-end of a cold front will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to the Ilocos, Cordillera, and Cagayan Valley regions.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers brought by localized thunderstorms. (PNA)
