CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan -- A total of PHP58 million has been allotted for the construction of sewerage treatment plants in the provincial and district hospitals being administered by the provincial government of Bulacan.

This was disclosed by Governor Daniel R. Fernando after the successful "Takbo Para sa Kalikasan 2" fun run held Sunday at the Bulacan Sports Complex in this city.

He said the establishment of sewerage treatment plants is part of the initiatives of the provincial government to help rehabilitate Manila Bay.

"The sewerage treatment plant is now our priority after concentrating on the expansion of government hospitals and facilities. This is to ensure that the contaminated wastes from the hospitals will not be dumped into the waters and that it will never reach Manila Bay," Fernando said.

Based on the approved 2020 Annual Investment Program (AIP), he said the sewerage treatment plant for Bulacan Medical Center in this city has an allocation of PHP10 million while the Rogaciano Mercado Memorial District Hospital in Santa Maria town has PHP8 million funding.

Another PHP4 million was allocated for the sewerage treatment plant in a district hospital in Pamarawan Island, a village in Malolos City which is in the heart of Manila Bay.

Likewise, Fernando said PHP4 million each was allotted for other district hospitals in the towns of San Miguel, Baliwag, Plaridel, Calumpit, Hagonoy, and Bulakan.

The construction of the sewerage treatment plant in the new district hospitals in the towns of Obando, Pandi, and Angat has also been funded by PHP4 million each, he added.

"The allotted funds are part of Bulacan's 2020 provincial budget of PHP5.7 billion," the governor said. (PNA)
