MANILA -- The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) on Wednesday launched a civility campaign at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), dubbed as "DisipliNAIA".
MIAA general manager Ed Monreal said people who are "queue jumpers", those who are crowding around the baggage claim area, those who are putting their bags and feet on the seats, are just among the common dilemma of other passengers at the NAIA.
"This campaign intends to lessen the stress of air travelers. This (campaign) needs to be maintained, as this is not 'ningas-cogon'," he said.
"I encourage my fellow employees and all airport occupants to bring back the GMRC (good manners and right conduct)," Monreal said.
He said the top management at the NAIA has been briefed about the campaign since they need to lead by example.
For employees and other occupants at NAIA, there will be a briefing for them starting December 10, for them to better understand the campaign.
"This campaign is focused on civility, and we will sustain this," Monreal said.
MIAA has placed tarpaulins and signs, encouraging airport users to be more courteous, in the vicinity of the four terminals of NAIA.
A campaign jingle was also created and played non-stop at the NAIA Terminal 1 as of Wednesday.
Videos urging passengers to be more respectful and mindful of others and the airport facilities may also be shown at the NAIA. (PNA)
