CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- For the second time, Filinvest’s power arm, FDC Misamis Power Corporation (FDC Misamis), was hailed and honored by the province of Misamis Oriental as its number one real property taxpayer for the third quarter of calendar year 2019, in an awarding ceremony held at the Capitol Grounds in Cagayan de Oro City on Monday.
The Gotianun-led power firm registered a total payment of PHP59,122,735.22 in the first three quarters of the current year, records from the Provincial Treasurer’s Office show.
Last year, it also ranked number one with PHP60,698, 039.72 in total payment.
Elated by the award, Juan Eugenio L. Roxas, the firm’s President and Chief Executive Officer expressed words of gratitude to the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental, "We are very grateful to the local government. This recognition inspires us to continue to pay not only the correct taxes but to pay on time."
“We are proud that we have been recognized as the top taxpayer during the past two years of commercial operations of FDC Misamis," he said.
FDC Misamis was inaugurated by President Rodrigo Duterte and was connected to the Mindanao grid in September 2016.
With his remaining 947 days in office as Governor, Emano assured the tax awardees that their taxes are in safe hands.
“Because you (religiously) paid your taxes, we are able to deliver the (right) services to our people,” he said.
He enumerated programs and projects that are lined up and scheduled to be funded through the taxes collected.
Among them are the Special Education Fund, sports development, salary hike for Capitol employees (4th tranche), barangay empowerment, out of school youth, senior citizens, and other social services.
"This award is a manifestation of our commitment to the local government units, and Misamisnons in general, that we will pay our taxes religiously," said Roxas. (PR)
