CEBU CITY -- The chief of the Police Regional Office (PRO-7) in Central Visayas on Monday announced the dismissal from service of six police officers over administrative charges.

Brig. Gen. Valeriano de Leon said the police officers already received their dismissal papers which are final and executory as they opted not to contest them anymore by waiving their rights of appeal.

“They failed or maybe they don’t intend to appeal anymore their administrative case after repeated notices to do so. So I signed their dismissal papers from the service last week,” de Leon said in a statement.

The dismissed police officers include Master Sgt. Jerry Macabudbud, Corporal Raymonito Panoh Mesa, Corporal Jobie Libradilla Antipolo, and Patrolmen Joseph Sala Tabotabo, Frances Dinglasa Maucesa, and Edmund Barry Tabar Pizarra.

The dismissed personnel were formerly detailed with the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Section (RPHAS) of PRO-7 while their administrative charges for grave neglect of duty were under investigation.

Col. Julius Cesar Gornez, then chief of the Regional Personnel Records and Management Division (R1), reviewed the cases of the six police officers before recommending their dismissal.

The review happened before de Leon was appointed as chief of police in Region 7.

Gornez is now the acting director of Siquijor Provincial Police Office.

De Leon further said the benefits due for the dismissed cops were ordered forfeited as a matter of policy.

He said during his assumption as PRO-7 chief, he warned all uniformed personnel and non-uniformed personnel (NUP) who have derogatory report of involvement in illegal activities and criminal acts to shape up.

“I will not think twice to sign your dismissal order if you are found guilty or you continue your illegal activities such as drugs and other criminal acts. Policemen like you have no place in the organization,” he added.

During his inspection of police forces to check their operational readiness, de Leon said the warning against scalawag cops became mantra.

The PRO-7 is composed of the provinces of Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor, and Negros Oriental and the independent cities of Cebu, Lapu-Lapu, and Mandaue. (PNA)
