MANILA -- Legazpi Airport, which sustained damage from Typhoon "Tisoy" (international name: Kammuri), is now open for commercial operations, said Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) spokesperson Eric Apolonio on Wednesday.

"Airport operations commence today, but as of now, we haven't received advisories from airlines (whether they would fly)," Apolonio told the Philippine News Agency (PNA).

He said Legazpi Airport's runway is now operational but has only received one aircraft arrival, a C-295 of the Philippine Air Force.

It would be the commercial airlines' call whether they would fly, he added.

According to Apolonio, Legazpi Airport sustained damage early Tuesday morning including its passenger terminal building which was heavily damaged.

Runway markings were lost, and the airport's fire shed and other buildings sustained minor damage, based on CAAP's report.

Its management has been utilizing undamaged areas of the passenger terminal building as temporary arrival and pre-departure areas. (PNA
