9 dead, 19 injured in 'Tisoy' onslaught: NDRRMC

MANILA -- Nine people were confirmed dead while 19 others were injured during the onslaught of Typhoon Tisoy (international name Kammuri), the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Thursday.

In its update, the agency also reported that 154,410 families in 2,269 barangays in Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol and Eastern Visayas were affected by Tisoy.

NDRRMC executive director Ricardo Jalad said the affected families are equivalent to 618,475 persons.

As of this posting, a total of 139,199 families or 557,313 persons are sheltered in 3,409 evacuation centers while another 11,411 families or 47,611 persons are aided outside.

A total of 31 road sections and four bridges were reported affected by the typhoon of which 13 roads and the four bridges remain unpassable as of this time.

Damage to agriculture in Mimaropa and Bicol was placed at PHP811,519,086. (PNA)
