MANILA -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has yet to act on the number of requests by the Duterte Youth to issue a Certificate of Proclamation (COP).

"The Comelec En Banc did not act on Ducielle Cardema's repeated requests for a Certificate of Proclamation," Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon said in her Twitter account, @commrguanzon on Thursday.

Ducielle replaced her husband, former National Youth Commission chairperson Ronald Cardema after he was earlier disqualified by the poll body as the group's first nominee.

Guanzon added that it is unlikely that they would act on the requests this month.

Earlier, members of the House of Representatives issued Resolution No. 552, urging the poll body to resolve the pending cases of the Duterte Youth.

The lawmakers said it has been six months since the May elections but cases involving the group have yet to be resolved.

Guanzon attributed the absence of an en banc ruling to the pending petition filed against the Duterte Youth at the Second Division.
"(This is) because cases are pending against her (Ducielle) and Duterte Youth," she said.

The Second Division has already set on December 18 the hearing on the "Petition to Cancel Party-List Registration and/or to Declare Nullity of its Registration" filed against the party-list group.

Petitioners Reeya Magtalas, Abigail Tan, Raainah Punzalan, and Aunell Angcos said it is imperative for the commission to either nullify or cancel the registration of the Duterte Youth for committing numerous violations.

The party-list group got 347,297 votes, thus earning one seat in the House of Representatives. (PNA)
