Paulino to fight Handig for vacant PH super flyweight title

DAVAO CITY -- Southpaw Cris "The King" Paulino of Manila will face Mateo "Waray Warrior" Handig of Northern Samar for the vacant Philippine super flyweight crown on Dec. 14 at the Elorde Sports Complex in Paranaque City.

The 26-year-old Paulino (20W-4L-0D, 8KO) recently beat by a unanimous decision Junjie Lauza of General Santos City on July 20 in Bacoor, Cavite.

Paulino, however, earlier lost to Jason Moloney of Australia by a TKO in the 5th round last March 30 in New South Wales, Australia in his bid for the WBA Oceania bantamweight title

Handig, on the other hand, has won the vacant LuzProBA super bantamweight title over Albert Alcoy of Makati City by a knockout in the 2nd round last 2018.

Handig, however, lost to Sirichai Thaiyen of Thailand by a unanimous decision for the vacant OPBF Silver super flyweight title last July 19 in Bangkok.

Meanwhile, Dave "The Hunter" Penalosa (15W-1L-0D, 11KO) of Cebu will fight Virgil "Strong Man" Puton (18W-13L-2D, 9KO) of Polomolok in the main supporting bout.

The other bouts are: Reymart Gaballo of General Santos City vs. Chaiwat Buatkrathok of Thailand; Bievenido Ligas of Caloocan vs. Christoval Furog of Sultan Kudarat; Dave Apolinario of General Santos City vs. Jovab Lucas of Sarangani; Criztian Pitt Laurente of General Santos City vs. Jasper Cayno of Manila.

The boxing promoter is Gabriel "Bebot" Elorde Jr. of the Elorde International Productions. (PNA)
