Blast hits school principal’s house in NoCot town

PIKIT, North Cotabato -- A powerful explosion rocked the house of a school principal in a residential area here on Sunday night, police said.

Nobody was hurt in the blast the damaged the home of Abdulkadir Buda, 35, principal of Datu Embak Mangansing Memorial High School.

The blast site was not far from Fort Pikit where the town hall and municipal police office are located.

Capt. Mautin Pangandigan, Pikit town police chief, said initial investigation showed that the 10 p.m. explosion was caused by a rifle grenade fired by still unidentified men from afar.

“Our investigators found shrapnel for an M-79 grenade projectile at the site,” Pangandigan said.

Motive of the attack and the perpetrators remained unknown as of this posting.

Pangandigan said he is yet to speak to Buda about the incident. (With a report from Noel Punzalan/PNA)
