BALANGA CITY, Bataan — A trade fair which showcases some local products opened Wednesday at the capitol compound here as part of the week-long celebration of the province's 263rd founding anniversary.
The celebration that started Monday and will end Saturday is themed “Makasaysayang Nakaraan, Bunga ng Maunlad na Bataan”.
Stalls in blue tents displayed various food products, delicacies, footwear, shirts, and souvenir items, among many others.
Some food products that are on sale include buko pie, garlic shrimp, pickled mongo and green chili, garlic shrimp, araro cookies, peanut brittle, cashew cookies, lime cookies, cashew butter and nuts, to name a few.
Other locally-made items also available in the trade fair include potholders, rugs, refrigerator cover, wallet, t-shirts with "Bataan" print, tumbler, key chains and other souvenir items, footwear, handicrafts as well as fabric conditioner, soap, and powder detergent.
On Saturday, there will be a parade of floats that will showcase the "past and present" of Bataan will be held together with the street dancing.
Since Monday, there have been daily theater presentations on the “Alamat at Kasayasayan ng Bataan.”
A fun run and different games were also held.
This celebration was the second after House Bill 3718 declaring January 11 of every year as Bataan Foundation Day was enacted into Republic Act 11138 on Nov.8, 2018, declaring January 11 as a special non-working holiday in the province.
