CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan—Governor Daniel Fernando is reminding residents to settle their tax obligations on or before the deadline.

As part of the tax campaign in the province, Fernando encouraged the taxpayers to pay early in order to avail of a discount and avoid incurring penalties and other surcharges.

“Please take advantage of this opportunity. You have avoided fines and inconveniences, you still have a discount,” he said.

The governor cited the law that states those who will pay their tax obligations on time will have a 10-percent discount while taxpayers who will pay in advance will receive a 15-percent discount.

In the announcement made by the Provincial Treasurer’s Office, the deadline for settling the real property tax is on March 31 (first quarter -January until March); June 30 (second quarter-April until June); Sept. 30 (third quarter-July until September) and Dec. 31 (fourth quarter-October until December).

For other taxes, the due dates are on or before Jan. 31 for professional tax; on or before the 15th day of each month for amusement tax; on or before Jan. 20 or within the 20 days of January every year for the tax on printing and publication; and on or before Jan. 20 for the tax on delivery van and truck.

“The tax payable is in accordance with the law. It is a citizen's obligation and must be paid for the development of the province and the country a well. Collected taxes help the government to meet the various needs of the citizens,” he added. (PNA)
