COTABATO CITY -- The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM) said 26 of the 36 towns in Maguindanao have achieved high performance ratings in the war against illegal drugs.

The result was released Wednesday by the Provincial Anti-Drug Council (PADAC) of Maguindanao, with members comprising of the police, PDEA-BARMM, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and representatives from the private sector and civil society organizations.

The towns that achieved “high performance” rating in the war against drugs are Datu Montawal, Ampatuan, Barira, Buldon, Datu Abdullah Sangki, Datu Paglas, Datu Piang, General SK Pendatun, Guindulungan, Mother Kabuntalan, Mamasapano, Matanog, Pagalungan, Paglat, Pandag, Parang, Radjah Buayan, Shariff Aguak, Shariff Saydona Mustapha, South Upi, Sultan Kudarat, Sultan Mastura, Sultan Sa Barongis, Talitay, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, and North Upi.

“Low performance” rating was given to the town of Mangudadatu and “moderate low performance rating” to the local government units (LGUs) of Buluan, Datu Anggal Midtimbang, Datu Blah Sinsuat, Datu Hoffer Ampatuan, and Datu Salibo.

“Moderate-high performance” rating was awarded to the towns of Datu Unsay, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Northern Kabuntalan, and Talayan.

Juvenal Azurin, PDEA-BARMM director, said Thursday the LGUs with low rating may still improve depending on how they will perform in the coming months as far as the anti-drug campaign is concerned.

“Keep up the good work,” Azurin told officials of the LGUs with high performance ratings.

The province of Maguindanao has the most number of drug-cleared and drug-free villages across the BARMM.

The region is composed of the provinces of Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi and the cities of Cotabato, Marawi and Lamitan and 63 villages in North Cotabato, which are the newest members of BARMM. (PNA)
