MANILA -- Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. on Friday rejected any offer of blood money for the case of Jeanelyn Pardenal Villavende, the overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who was brutally killed by her employer in Kuwait.

"I renounce and reject any offer of blood money for her (Villavende) torture/murder. I want two lives for the life they took," Locsin said in his official Twitter account.

He made the statement as he noted that the top-notch lawyer hired by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to prosecute is not authorized to suggest or accept blood money from Villavende's killers.

Villavende's death in the hands of her employer's wife has sparked outrage in Manila, prompting the government to impose a deployment ban on Kuwait.

Based on initial reports, Villavende was beaten to death and was already dead when brought to a hospital. Attending nurses reported that she was "black and blue".

Earlier, Kuwait Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah said his government was willing to allow investigators from the Philippines to join the probe in Kuwait on Villavende's murder. (PNA)
