SAN CARLOS CITY, Pangasinan -- Some 3,086 households here enjoy sufficient water supply with the aid of the newly-inaugurated booster station project of the San Carlos City Water District (SCCWD) and PrimeWater San Carlos.

In an interview Wednesday, SCCWD general manager Benjamin Distor said the booster station aims to address the need for sufficient water supply during peak hour in the villages.

Among these villages are Ano, Bega, Tarece, PNR Site, Quezon Boulevard, Mabini Street, San Juan, Mestizo Norte, Baldog Agdao, and Malacañang.

Distor said the booster station can store up to 500 cubic meters of water in a steel tank reservoir with two 15-horsepower booster pumps.

"This would store water at night. So every morning when there is a high demand for water, it would supplement the pressure and thus, supply the need of the residents in the 10 barangays," he said.

Distor said they will no longer switch off the pumping station at night just to store water needed during rush hour when most people are using water for preparation of food, taking a bath before heading to work or school, or any other chores.

The construction of the project started in May 2019, and became fully operational sometime in December 2019.

Meanwhile, Distor said they are now in the process of completing the requirements of the water treatment plant that is set to be built in Barangay Guelew this year. (PNA)
