LEGAZPI CITY -- A total of 575 Bicolanos are now employed after securing positions in various companies at the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Bicol Anniversary Job Fair on Tuesday.

Johana Vi Gasga, DOLE-Bicol spokesperson, in an interview on Wednesday said the fair that offered a total of 10,000 vacancies, both local and abroad, recorded a total of 1,742 registered applicants.

“From the registered job seekers, we recorded 1,212 qualified applicants. Fifty-five were listed as hired-on-the-spot while 520 were listed as nearly hired,” she said.

Gasga added that the nearly hired were considered hired but they still need to submit documentary requirements and have a final interview with the immediate supervisors.

“It is a success, almost half of the total numbers of applicants were hired, it means more families will get the chance to have a better life by having jobs,” she said.

Gasga said a job fair is still the best program the DOLE has in terms of job placement. (PNA)
