BACOLOD CITY -- Mayor Evelio Leonardia on Thursday formally received his appointment as the lone representative of the local government units (LGUs) to the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC).

The original copy of his appointment signed by President Rodrigo Duterte was presented to him by Socioeconomic Planning Secretary and National Economic Development Authority chief Ernesto Pernia, head of LEDAC Secretariat, during the council’s meeting held at the NEDA head office in Pasig City.

“Secretary Pernia stressed that the Duterte administration is now on its ‘homestretch’ in implementing its key programs and projects,” said Leonardia, who attended the Technical Working Group meeting.

He added that the NEDA chief said there should be a focus on the creation of the agencies on water, disaster resilience, and overseas Filipino workers as well as the establishment of more Malasakit Centers.

The LEDAC is the highest advisory body to the President for economic development.

Leonardia, the current national president of the League of Cities of the Philippines, attended the meeting for the first time with the two other LEDAC sector representatives, including Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman George Barcelon and National Youth Commission chair Ryan Enriquez, who are representing the private and youth sectors, respectively.
